Hi clanmates!
I'm going to start putting together a little something to help out those who are still pretty new to clash of clans. It probably won't be featuring anything too specific or advanced, but mostly tips covering all things clash of clans. It will be quick and easy to look at and find answers, and I want it to be packed with super helpful information.
That's where you guys come in...
I would love everyone to comment on this with any questions that you had as beginners (or have now), or with any helpful tips or tricks that you wish you had known sooner!
Thank you!

I have a few:
Do not use the border of the land as a wall. The opponent can drop units on the border and you're pretty much toast.
Air defenses are a nightmare when you are attacking with healers/dragons or for the opponents who are attacking with healers/dragons. When attacking, try to take them out first. When defending, make sure you have your air defenses well guarded.
Walls are a pain to upgrade but make sure you have them out and upgrade them as much as possible before upgrading your town hall. They are the key to a good defense.
Try to have sections in your base. Don't create a square with your walls and then dump all of your stuff in there. The enemy breaks one section of that wall, they have easy access to the rest of your base.
Everyone has their own preference on what troops to use while attacking. Whatever way you choose, make sure to have some pawns that you can send out to try to trigger traps. Otherwise, your giants or going to fly off the screen.
I'll post more as I think of them.

Don't bother putting mines or pumps in the walls. They'll just be taking up valuable room.
Upgrade everything that you can before upgrading your town hall. The only exception to this is if think you'll have time to finish other upgrades while your town hall is cooking. You'll get more resources from raids at lower town hall levels and be penalized at higher levels. A higher town hall level will also make our opponents more difficult during a war, so make sure you're absolutely ready before jumping ahead.
Walls are a pain to upgrade but they can completely dissuade people from attacking your base. For a long time during TH6 I would skip past every base with gold or better walls. Gray or less and I was all over it.
Your war base should look substantially different from your "normal" base. Keep your town hall and clan castle near the center. Don't be afraid to put storages outside (they don't matter during wars). Contract the base down onto itself so that you have an impregnable fortress. I tend not to worry about losing a star to a 50% attack. They'll never get through to my town hall. If that's all the opponent can get our clan will be golden during the war.
Keep all of your buildings near each other. Some like to put a building on the corners hoping to keep the opponent from getting 100% my making them walk all over the place. There are two problems with that: 1-smart raiders will attack those first. 2-If that's all that you have to hope for you've already lost two stars. 3-I've won more than a few raids by attacking buildings outside of defense range with archers and getting 50% before I even got shot at. Instead, try to keep everything within range of your defenses so that there are no free targets.

Any tips on how to use wizards and other units? I've only used Barch so far so I haven't had much experience with anything after those.
Tips for attacking: Units with preferred targets such as giants will not attack clan castle troops first. Units like archers will attack them if placed nearby so it is good to lure castle troops out so the archers will not have to go within defense range to take out the clan troops.
Placing a unit within the radius of the clan castle will bring the troops out. The troops will go to your closest unit no matter how far away it is.

Pug... Troop use / configurations are a never ending target! Supercell even changes the movement and ability of some troops through updates. For attacking, you need to cluster wizards for maximum punching power, but they don't have much survival strength. They also punch their way through walls quickly, so you don't need to supplement with bombers. I've also used groups of them with a healer dropped behind and they do very well when played like that. Don't use one or two alone at the start of a battle. They will die quickly.
Now that I told you all of that... if you are playing to loot for elixir and gold, you really can't beat barb, archers, and goblins. They are cheap and fast to cue up. Wizards are expensive and slow and don't really come into their own until they get to about level 5. 90% of the time I'm just residing for loot, I use 4 bombers, 50% archers, 25% barbs, and the rest Goblins. I hit bases that have mines and pumps that haven't been emptied in a while and are usually scattered around the exterior walls. I will use the Goblins to grab them all fast, then it the storages inside look like they only are 1-2 layers in, I will use the barbs to distract the defenses and blow a few walls open so the archers can stream in and clean up some loot long range. Works well if you don't want to take the whole base, just get loot and 50%+ of buildings.

Troop regeneration speed-up tip. Everyone hates the wait time between attacks, well you can cut that wait time. it's possible to go into battle and have more troops being made while you're battling, even if your army camps are full when you go into battle. Before pressing the attack button, be sure to tap on a barrack and select troops until it is maxed, then do the same for your other barracks. Let's say you have a 200 count army as your max, then you can load 50 fresh recruits into each barrack if you like to have the same troop make-up each time. If you do this, when you return from battle, about 30 troops will already be made and in your camps. That's 30 less you have to wait for before you can attack again. Try it out!

I wish you could do that with spells, too.

Me too! Only one spell factory is rough, and then waiting 30 minutes for each one is horrible.

Sub 200 is a weird place with fairly good loot. The difference in loot at 201 trophies and 199 trophies and under is huge. It's possible to get around 300k+ gold/elixir per hour at town hall 7 but it requires constant active playing (no rest time between raids). The moment you log off you'll get attacked and pushed to 350+ trophies or attacked by a town hall 9/10 farming farmers. To prevent being attacked you can either stay low on resources or farm trophies to get to 250+.
When farming if a base with a lot of loot is found you can leave before you destroy 40% to prevent shields from activating; there's a very high chance you'll find the base again. There're bases that seem like they were made just to be farmed with all the collectors and storage outside the walls.
Sub 200 was too time intensive for me so I doubt I'd go back down there again. There's no dark elixir to loot unless you're able to farm the farmers. All farmer collectors will be empty. If you want to keep your dark elixir I don't recommend going down to sub 200.
