Need Elixir and Gold for upgrades? Everyone does. And, the longer you play the game, the more you need. I thought I'd post some farming basics.
First, what is farming? Looting, farming... it all means the same thing. Basically, you want to hit a base with the cheapest possible army to get the job done and steal as many resources as possible. You want to do this because it doesn't cost much to make your army, it trains fast, and you make lots of resource loot in s short amount of time. If you cue up an army right before you go into battle, it will be building while you're searching / hitting a base, then you won't have as long to wait when you return. A good looting army takes about 15-18 minutes max to brew. (Archers, Barbs, Goblins, and some bombers)
Second, What base to hit? Look for these things:
Full vs. Empty pumps
See empty pumps? The base is probably loaded with resources. What's the first thing you do when you return to your base after not playing the game? Empty your mines and pumps, right? Full ones means a base has been abandoned for a while.
Mines: Zoom up a base your considering hitting and you will see that there is a side cart next to each mine. The more full the one on the right is, the longer it's been since the owner has emptied things out.
Third: Blank Badge. Seeing a blank badge means the owner of a base hasn't been in battle since the current league started. Leagues restart every two weeks. Lack of a badge a few days after a league starts will mean a base that's been abandoned for a while... which means more loot.
TH7 & Up: Higher up in the game, you can also look to see if the box on top of the dark elixir drill is full to see if one of those is an easy hit as well.
BTW, looting does not always mean losing trophies to hit bases for resources. If you choose carefully, you can loot a base and hit 50% of the targets from the outside as well. This gets you the loot, a star, and some trophies to boot.
Hope the info is of help. Got questions? Ask. There's a lot of folks on here willing to help.
